Students from Cozad and Loup City will be competing in the Nebraska Academic Decathlon next weekend.

Academic Decathlon was created to provide opportunities for students to experience the challenges of rigorous team and individual academic competition. Each student competes in 10 events: economics, essay, art, interview, language and literature, math, music, social science, speech and the super quiz, which is a topic that changes every year.

The decathlon begins at 2:15 p.m. Saturday at the Skutt Student Center Ballroom in Omaha.

The top three teams from large and small school divisions earn scholarships for higher education. The Nebraska state champions will compete in the national finals April 25-28 in Albuquerque, N.M.
