Nine students from Pius X High School showed their knowledge of World War I and won the Nebraska Academic Decathlon Feb. 21 to 22, securing themselves a trip to nationals in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The Pius X Team unseated Creighton Prep, last year’s champions, at the weekend competition held at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Pius is the only Lincoln school that advanced from the regional competition in January to the finals of the 10-event scholastic competition. Northeast High School competed in regionals but did not advance to state.
Last year Pius was runner up to Creighton Prep.

February 16, 2013 – Creighton Prep, again, takes 2013 Nebraska Academic Decathlon title
Prep won the annual state competition for the seventh time in the past decade, topping Lincoln Pius X and Omaha Burke. Prep also won the Super Quiz, a lightning round event in which participants have seven seconds to answer each of 10 questions.
In the small school category, Nebraska City Lourdes won for the sixth straight year.
